ERPNext: frequently asked questions
Is ERPNext really free?
Yes. ERPNext is 100% open source under the GPLv3 licence, so there are no per-user licence fees. You only pay for implementation, hosting and support, which makes the total cost of ownership much lower than proprietary ERPs.
How long does an ERPNext implementation take?
It depends on scope. A single-company rollout covering accounts, sales, buying and stock usually takes 6 to 10 weeks. Multi-company or manufacturing implementations usually take 3 to 6 months. We agree phases and timelines with you in the Design stage.
Does ERPNext support India GST and UAE VAT?
Yes. For India, the India Compliance app handles GST, e-invoicing and e-way bills. For the UAE, ERPNext includes the UAE VAT setup, tax invoices and the VAT 201 return report.
Can we use ERPNext on the cloud or on our own servers?
Both. You can host it on Frappe Cloud, AWS, Azure or any other cloud, or on your own on-premise server. Your data stays yours either way.
Can you migrate our data from Tally, QuickBooks or another ERP?
Yes. We migrate masters such as customers, suppliers, items and chart of accounts, along with opening balances and open transactions. We validate the migrated data with your finance team before go-live.
Will customisations break when ERPNext is upgraded?
Not if they are built correctly. We build customisations as custom fields, scripts and separate Frappe apps, never by editing core code, so upgrades stay safe and predictable.
Which ERPNext version do you implement?
New implementations go on the latest stable release, ERPNext v16. We also upgrade existing v13, v14 and v15 sites.
